Blue Chamomile Oil
Blue Chamomile is a centuries-old established medicinal herb with proven anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties.
The earliest recorded use of chamomile goes back to 1550 BC, ancient Egyptians used crushed chamomile flowers to treat skin conditions caused by the harsh, dry climate. The dry flower contains more than 120 secondary metabolites, containing terpenoids and flavonoids, which contribute to its medicinal properties. Essential oils extracted from Chamomile have also been reported to contain antimicrobial properties against various species of fungi, bacteria, and viruses.
Because of its longstanding widespread use in traditional medicine, chamomile has gained significant attention in the field of biomedical research. A recent study performed by German scientists demonstrated that chamomile flavonoids and essential oils penetrate below the skin surface into the deeper skin layers . This is important for their use as topical antiphlogistic (anti-inflammatory) agents.
Anti-inflammatory: calms inflammation, reduced irritation and redness
Healing: renowned for speeding up healing of cuts, abrasions and scars. For example acne scars
Prevents breakouts: fights bacteria without causing drying
Anti-aging: reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promotes new healthy skin growth
