Dry skin. You get it from doing laps in the pool. You get it from living in a desert, at a high altitude, or in a windy place. You get it from having a demanding job where you’re exposed to the elements. For many people, dry skin hits around age 40. Our skin stops producing as much oil and it slowly starts to lose the ability to retain moisture.
Vitamin C serum can help to combat this moisture paucity. It’s important to note that all vitamin C serums are not created equal. Some contain harsh chemicals. Bella Virtu’s Vitamin C facial serum doesn’t. It contains antioxidant castor oil, anti-inflammatory rosemary leaf oil, moisturizing rosehip oil, and six other essential oils. Here’s how you should apply–and when.
Do a Patch Test.
Always do a patch test with any new product you try. Take a small drop of the serum and apply about a quarter-size to your arm or hand. Then, wait 24 hours to make sure that the serum doesn’t irritate your skin. It’s not uncommon for vitamin C serum to tingle slightly, but it should not cause your skin to get red or burn.
Clean Your Skin.
Once you feel confident vitamin C serum agrees with your skin, it’s time to directly apply the serum to your face. Start by thoroughly cleaning your face. For example, our Rosemary and Lavender Cleansing Bar is an excellent option to remove dirt, pollution, and makeup from your face without drying it out. Let skin air out, but make sure it remains slightly damp before applying the vitamin C serum.
Draw a Half Dropper.
Now, draw the serum using the dropper. Only fill up the dropper about halfway. Carefully release a little bit of the serum at a time.
Massage into Your Skin.
Rub the serum into your face very gently, using only a small amount of the serum at a time in order not to waste. Allow the vitamin C serum to dry. Depending on your skincare routine, you may prefer to apply an SPF moisturizer for daytime use or night cream before you go to bed. Avoid using anything exfoliating on your face after you’ve applied the vitamin C serum.
Repeat into Morning and Evening.
The people who benefit the most from vitamin C serum are those who use it consistently. After you implement it into your daily skincare routine, you may notice your skin holds more moisture and appears brighter.
